Our Anniversary

Tuesday, February 11th, 2014

Four years ago, I worked feverishly to release my first Cupid’s Hunt mix in time for our February 10 wedding anniversary.  Well, I managed to do it again this year, although posting it in time for our celebration was delayed by…our celebration.

I’ll post the playlist later.  Until, then, I hope you just sit back and enjoy the surprise.

I dedicate this to Gregory T. Bethune, Sr.; and to February 10, 1979.

It’s That Time Again!

Friday, February 4th, 2011

A little more than a year ago, I started this site to participate in the Cupid’s Hunt Podcast Collaboration in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

Well, it’s that time again!

Valentine’s Day is  (as I write this) nine days away; and the collaborators are gearing up to post their podcasts of favorite love songs.  As they do so, I will try to link to as many as possible; and, add one or two of my own.

So, get ready to tune in to The Big Event!

In the meantime, let’s warm up a little.

I love this time of year!

Let The Hunt begin!

Let’s Welcome Him Back

Thursday, November 25th, 2010

Wednesday, November 24, 2010, marked the much-anticipated return of Rhythms In Black Satin.  It’s been seven months and 14 days since we’ve tasted the bounty of the RIBS kitchen.  And now, on this Thanksgiving Day, it’s time to feast.  So, while I’m in the kitchen ‘rattlin’ them pots and pans’, I’ll be tuned in to, cooking my turkey and fixins’ with a side dish of RIBS.

The new RIBS Triple Play Thursday is “Sometimes He Cries, part 1 “.

Welcome back, Mr. Brilliant.

Happy February!

February is going to be a busy month!

First of all, it’s Black History Month; and I want to post mixes similar to last month’s King Mix.   Also, two of my sons (born 15 years apart) celebrate their birthdays on the sixth; our wedding anniversary is the tenth; and the Cupid’s Hunt Podcast Collaboration Event coincides with Valentine’s Day four days later.   Add the work week deadlines; the new floor we’re putting down; new goats born on the farm (first in five years) and the repairs to the dairy that their arrival has made a priority, February feels like a short month that needs to be longer.

Although my music favorites lean toward Detroit and Memphis, my mother’s daughter in me wants to add a little gospel and historical speeches; the mom in me wants to post a few favorites of the birthday boys; and the bride in me remembers what made our wedding reception rock.  I had two more mixes in mind for Cupid’s Hunt; but if I have to time to post only one of them, it will be “First Dance”, a mix of my first dances and the first dances of some of my friends.

So, while the polyurethane dries on my bedroom floor, and with my favorites on TNT playing in the background; hubby and the kids sleeping; and various pets and livestock making their night noises outside; the night shift-er in me is wide awake, busy around the house and chuckling at the memories attached to all these tunes.

If you missed any of my past posts or mixes, please visit The Archives.  If there are any problems with the links, mixes or pages; or if you have found another cool music blog or have a music request, drop me a comment or an email.
